"Limits"
BEE Ann Vertel
Now that you are an adult, there are only two things holding you back - the limits that prevent forward movement (like a ball and chain around your ankle) and the beliefs you have accepted as true.
Limits are constraints. They are designed to purposely slow you down. Like a speed limit. We will not go faster than our personal limits will allow.
Limits are different than limiting beliefs. Limits are the stop-gaps we put on ourselves that hold us down. Beliefs are what move us forward.
We place limits on ourselves all the time to prevent ourselves from changing too quickly and "getting hurt."
In doing so, we limit our success, our earning potential, and our entire future. We are capable of doing just about anything. But we can't and won't if we insist on allowing trivial things to drive our results.
So how might you limit yourself and slow yourself down? Here are some examples:
- You focus on unimportant things.
- You confuse busy with productive.
- You believe that TV shows are important.
- You save stuff "in case" you might need it someday (magazines, articles, clothes, files etc.)
- You allow tasks to expand to your allotted time.
- You put everyone else's priorities first.
- You don't exercise for energy.
- You let circumstances, handicaps, past experiences, fear of risk or anything else become an excuse.
- You spend time with negative people.
Before the end of the day, write down ten things that you have put in place or adopted as a "rule" to keep yourself down, to hold yourself back, and to maintain the status quo. These are not things you believe about yourself, they are habits or life choices that you probably wouldn't see in someone of enormous success - someone like (fill in the blank with someone you admire.)
These limits are choices you have made. You can "un-choose" them and you can do that today. Write them down. Stop doing them. Get ready for greatness.
Now go be a millionaire!
